Fort Apache | Miami-Dade County, Florida, USA | Client: Investura, LLC

Investura proposed to develop a residential condominium in the location of a former marina.  Investura discovered leaking underground storage tanks at the site, and Globex was retained to manage the clean-up of contaminated soil and ground water.  The activities performed by Globex for the Fort Apache Marina site are described below:

  • Management of remedial activities including the removal and disposal of contaminated soils, and field screening and sample collection to determine the effectiveness of the activities;
  • Preparation of a Source Removal Report summarizing the remedial activities for submittal to the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management (DERM);
  • meeting with DERM to discuss additional required activities;
  • performed additional site assessment activities, including research on site history and site geology/hydrogeology, an aquifer assessment study, a perched zone assessment study, a ground water flow assessment, a Ground Water Quality Assessment, determination of the mechanisms of transport of the contaminants, a determination of the sources and extent of contamination, a soil assessment, the removal of contaminated drainage system components (including floor drains and catch basins), the removal of additional contaminated soils, the installation of ground water monitoring wells, soil and ground water confirmation sampling, backfilling of the excavations with clean fill, and development of a No Further Action Proposal; and
  • preparation of a Site Assessment Report summarizing the additional site assessment activities.
