Charlotte County owns and operates a Class I landfill, which receives waste from various parts of the county.  Charlotte County also operates a recycling facility which was formerly located within the permitted landfill footprint.  It was necessary that the recycling facility be relocated so that the permitted landfill footprint would be used for waste disposal. Globex was retained by Charlotte County to design and permit a 10-acre recycling facility in an area within the site that would not interfere with waste disposal for another 20 years. Globex designed the new recycling facility with special features to process various types of recyclable materials and also be equipped for processing compost in the future when the county initiates a composting operation.  Globex also designed a stormwater management system for the proposed recycling facility. A solid waste permit and a stormwater management permit were obtained for the construction and operation of the designed facility.

Globex prepared construction drawings for the recycling facility and its stormwater system. In collaboration with the County, a contractor was selected to perform the construction. Globex worked closely with the County and the contractor during construction of the facility. Globex regularly visited construction operations during construction to ensure that the facility was constructed in accordance with the project requirements. Globex reviewed as-built drawings prepared by the contractor and certified the new facility following completion of the work.
