The Deerfield Beach Public Works Facility site is located in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The site includes approximately 21 acres of land that was partially used as an unlined municipal solid waste dump site (known as the Deerfield Beach City Dump or the Deerfield Beach Landfill) from 1959 until 1973. A solid waste transfer station had operated at the site from 1990 until 2000.
In 2000, the city of Deerfield Beach began plans to redevelop the site to accommodate a municipal public works facility. The public works facility includes two buildings, a surface water management system, asphalt and concrete paved roadways, parking areas, loading areas, a fueling station with underground storage tanks, and infrastructure. One building has an approximate footprint of 8,000 square feet and is to be used as an administration building. The second building has an approximate footprint of 17,700 square feet and is to be used as an employee building (including office, storage, and garage space). Both buildings are being constructed over areas of historic waste disposal.
Globex has been involved in the project, along with other consultants for development of the site, since 2001. A list of general projects performed by Globex at the Deerfield Beach Public Works Facility site since 2001 is presented below:
Design of Environmental Controls
Landfill gas management system design; gas barrier layer design and permitting; landfill gas management system permitting; landfill gas management system flare permitting; and surface water management system pond liner design.
Site Development
Construction quality assurance monitoring of the gas control system installation, gas barrier geomembrane installation, and surface water pond liner installation.
Air Monitoring
Performed indoor air quality monitoring to confirm the effectiveness of the landfill gas management system.
