Flood Control Levee | Palm Bay, Florida, USA | Client: St. Johns River Water Management District
Globex, in collaboration with a local earthwork contractor, constructed a 1.5-mile long, 8-ft high flood control levee in the vicinity of Palm Bay, Florida. The flood control levee was constructed for the purposes of protecting local communities against floods from the St. Johns River during sever storm events. The levee was constructed in difficult marsh conditions. Silty clay material in the area was excavated from a borrow canal outside the levee boundary, and used in the construction of the levee. Quality assurance monitoring was performed during construction of the levee to ensure compaction of layers of soil met the project specifications. As-built plans were prepared following completion of the earthwork, which was submitted and approved by the St. John’s Water Management District.
