Premier Airport Park | Fort Myers, Florida, USA | Client: Premier Development

Premier Development purchased a 226-acre parcel of land on the south side of the Lee County International Airport to develop 2,000,000 ft2 of industrial warehouses. A significant amount of soil was required for the development. Premier proposed to excavate large stormwater detention lakes and to use the excavated soil for construction of the development.  However, the environmental agency in the County would not allow the lakes to be greater than 12 feet in depth, which would not provide sufficient soil for the development. Premier retained Globex to perform hydrogeologic evalutions and assist them in justifying depths as great as 28 ft for the lakes.

Globex performed extensive hydrogeologic evaluations and was able to justify to the regulatory agencies that the 28 ft depths for the lakes was beneficial to the heath and performance of the lakes due to the existing specific geologic and hydrogeologic conditions at the site. Globex professionals testified as experts before administrative hearing judges and convinced them that the proposed 28-ft depth for the lakes was justified. Premier obtained approval for the development of the lakes, which resulted in millions of dollars of savings for their development.

Globex also assisted Premier in developing a ground water monitoring system for periods before, during, and after excavation of the proposed lakes, and assisted in the development of best management practices for the maintenance of the surface water management system.
