Premier Development purchased a 17-acre parcel of land in early 2000s to develop four industrial warehouses each over 100,000 ft2 in area. The parcel of land included a former borrow lake which was filled with clean debris. Globex designed and permitted new borrow areas on site within areas that had not been previously excavated, to obtain soil for construction of the proposed development.  The additional borrow areas were permitted to be backfilled with clean debris to the original ground elevation. Globex also designed and permitted an active gas collection system below each warehouse building to prevent gases generated from the debris in the ground from entering the buildings. The active gas collection system included perforated gas collection pipes placed within a granular gas collection layer several feet below the building pad.  The gas collection pipes were connected to gas headers below surface for removal of the collected gas. The gas headers were connected to risers extending to the building roof. The risers were connected to blowers which create vacuum in the gas collection pipes and the granular layer. Globex prepared construction drawings for the construction of the gas collection system and coordinated with the owner and the contractor during construction of the system. The constructed system was certified by Globex at completion.
